These last few weeks of ASC have been great! We have started off well and are having a great time getting to know all the students. This blog will be a place where you can see some of the different clubs and activities that we have going on at after school club. Last week, we had a guest speaker come with her service dog. She came and talked about service animals and some reasons why people might need one. She let them pet her dog and showed off some tricks as well. The students loved it!
After a week of hard work and good behavior the students earned their Christmas party! The students were so excited to have reached their goals. For the party the students were able to choose between watching polar express, doing Christmas crafts, or playing " Christmas ornament" dodge ball. The Students had so much fun! It was a good way to finish out our last day of session one!
This week We have had tons of fun doing winter and Christmas crafts and games. We have learned about Christmas and the holiday season in different countries, shared our favorite parts about Christmas and decorated sugar cone christmas trees . The students are also working towards earning a Christmas party next Thursday which is the last day of this session of after school club! We love the fun times we share with your students!
This week our guest speaker Amy Taylor cam e to visit us. She Is a regional director for a senator in Idaho. She taught us about our government, her job and ways we can be good citizen. The students loved her fun stories and interesting topics. Here is a picture of her visit
Last week we had a visit from one of our local heroes. A police officer from the USU police department came to be our guest speaker. She spoke to us about about bicycle safety and stranger danger. The kids learned a lot about how they can be safe and have fun. They also had fun asking the police officer about her job and the things she does. Here are some pictures of the fun!
We have been having so much fun during this season of giving. We always love the service opportunities that arise this time of year. Recently Our 4th and 5th graders had the fun opportunity to tie blankets for people that are in the hospital. The students had so much fun making them and we are sure the people recieving them will be very grateful. Here are some pictures of fun!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving we have learned a lot this week about the importance of gratitude. Our ASC staff planned fun activities and crafts to help us think about the things we have to be grateful for. We made gratitude turkeys, pumpkins, and wrote thank you letters. We realize there are so many people we can say thank you to. here are a few of our creations:
We are starting our November clubs this week and we are so excited! Our staff have planned some fun clubs including: super hero club, thanksgiving club, around the world and art club. This month we worked on planning clubs that are not only fun but that will open up learning experiences and opportunities for your students. We are looking forward to participating in these activities with everyone!
Recently we have been celebrating Halloween! We have had lots of fun activities all about Halloween. We had fun at our parent night Halloween Carnival, at the pumpkin walk, wearing our costumes to after school club on Halloween and making Halloween crafts and playing Halloween games during club time! Thank you for letting us celebrate this holiday with your special students!
This week we took the students to the pumpkin walk! Everyone had so much fun looking at the different scenes and taking pictures! At the end of our trip we all got a special treat from the pumpkin walk witch! Here are a few pictures from our fun field trip!
For the past two weeks a student for Utah State as come to teach some of us about our school mascot, the owl! we learned about different kinds of owls, made owl crafts, and searched for pictures of owls around the school yard. The kids had so much fun learning about their mascot and what makes them such special animals.
Yesterday we had the fun opportunity to get a special visit from some USU aggies. The spirit squad, presidents cabinet and student body president came to be our guest speakers. They taught us how we could include people and some basic leadership skills! The spirit squad also taught us the scottsman and the lets go aggies cheer. the kids had so much fun meeting some amazing people and learning these important skills.
This week the first graders had a lot of fun going on the first ASC fieldtrip of the year. They walked up to Utah State Campus and looked at all the beautiful artwork. The first graders loved looking at all of the sculptures and taking funny pictures by them! Here are a few pictures from the trip!
